Rug Cleaning Methods we use
At Lotus Cleaning, we clean rugs at our in-plant rug bath using soft water along with an appropriate cleaning solution. This approach provides deep cleaning of your area rugs, flushing out more dirt and contaminants than other cleaning methods such as surface cleaning using hot water extraction.
Washing rugs in plant at our facility provides you with certain advantages:
- Comprehensive Rug Pre-inspection
- Our technician will take the time to inspect your rug before cleaning. They will identify the fiber type (wool, silk, cotton, viscose and other specialty fibers respond differently to cleaning), test the dyes for stability, look for stains, document pre-existing damage, and any areas of concern that may cause issues during the wash.
- The pre-inspection process allows us to devise a cleaning plan for the rug. We communicate this information to the customer after this procedure is completed, but before the cleaning begins.
- Particulate Soil Removal
- Given the unique construction and fiber type for rugs available, we thoroughly vacuum both sides of the rug, followed by mechanical vibrations on the back to loosen soil and loose debris. This ensures that we remove dry soil and particulates before cleaning, allowing for the best possible outcome.
- Detailed Cleaning
- To ensure that your rug receives the best possible cleaning, we clean all three sides – the front, back and inside (or foundation) of your area rug. Cleaning in-plant gives us access to all three sides to achieve a detailed clean.
- Each rug is washed separately to reduce any risk of cross contamination. Not every rug is washed or cleaned in the same manner. We will always use the best method for cleaning your rugs.
- Thorough Rinsing
- All rugs are washed in our custom made 16’ x 20’ raised wash floor that is specifically designed with holed tiles, so all water and cleaning solutions used continuously exit the rug during the wash.
- We use a pit to immerse rugs damaged by urine, fire and floods to thoroughly deodorize and decontaminate them.
- Rugs cleaned in our facility are washed with several hundred gallons of water to achieve optimal results.
- Fringe Cleaning
- The fringes are cleaned during washing of the rug. However, fringes are shampooed by hand, groomed, and rinsed. Any stains or other issues that did not come out during the cleaning process, are treated after this process is completed.
- Complete Drying
- Upon completion of cleaning, we lay the rug flat and dry it using air movers. Our facility is also equipped with industrial dehumidifiers to ensure your rug is dry when it is not possible to use outside air for ventilation.
- Please be aware that shrinkage may occur as a result of washing your rugs.

I had cat urine stains on my sofa and living room chairs. Previous to contacting Lotus I contacted two large cleaning companies in Calgary and was told that they would not deal with cat urine. Lotus Cleaning was fully prepared to deal with cat urine. They also removed some grease spots on our dining room chairs. They were polite and proficient. I was pleased with the results.

What great value! From the service of picking up and dropping off instead of me wrangling them to a shop, to ending up with like-new rugs, I can't say enough. My rugs were both in high traffic areas, with a dirty-pawed dog and both came out amazing!Perhaps the greatest test was when they came to pick up and drop off and my usually territorial dog welcomed them without a bark, only curiosity.

Lotus has renewed my faith in carpet cleaning services. Honestly I have cleaned our carpets myself for many years simply because of poor past experiences. We just lost our 21yr old cat. In his last days he started to use our carpeted stairs to pee on. I am hypersensitive to smells and needed to address this right away. My experience with carpet cleaning companies is wet stinky carpets for weeks afterwards. Our carpets look fantastic, there is absolutely no pee smell or damp carpets or residual damp smells. Lotus was excellent! They helped me out last minute when I was moving out at the end of the month. Atish was flexible, friendly and professional. They made the whole experience so easy - they texted me confirmations and let me know when he was on the way to my home. I could pay with debit right on his tablet. Very reasonable price with excellent work! (5 small rooms + stairs $200). The carpets look amazing.

We wanted to thank Atish for the great service! He did call us when he was running late because of some accident, which was very nice of him. What even worked out better for us as we were in the process of loading the truck. And he did a great job while we were still moving out and carrying furniture and boxes around. He had to work around us but was very patient and did such a good job! The carpet looked amazing after cleaning! Definitely recommend!

I was very impressed with Lotus. I hired them to clean my carpets. They were very responsive and did excellent work. Communication was the best I've ever had. I was so pleased I had them come the next day to re-finish met hardwood floors and tile. Highly recommended!

Lotus Cleaning cleaned our shag carpets in the spring and my roommates and I were sincerely impressed with the service they provided! Our household maintains a regular vacuuming routine, but we were all astounded about the incredible volume of dirt that Lotus Cleaning was able to extract from our carpets! They were like brand new when the job was done. But what really impressed us about Lotus Cleaning was their professionalism and willingness to go above and beyond. For example, the technician, Atish, was friendly and jovial and was willing to help move furniture to ensure the most thorough job was done. Atish was punctual and stayed on the schedule he quoted us. He also employed the use of special wall protectors, which was a nice added level of security. Atish even called to follow up about the service and to make sure we were satisfied. All in all it was a wonderful experience and our carpets still feel clean under our feet!

His co-worker was also very professional and friendly. The tile and grout cleaning job was one that required a portable machine which it seems most places do not have. We live in a condo and the other companies could not do our floors as their truck mounted machine would
not reach us on the 4th floor. Lotus has both portable and truck mounted cleaners. They did an excellent job of cleaning an old tile floor and it looks great.
